Sad to say that I learned this week we've lost a great artist here.  It's impossible to be interested in theming and not know who Jamie Green (neiio) is.  He's been such a huge contributor of some of the best customization work around here and elsewhere for ages, and he never slowed down. R.I.P Jamie.  You will be missed.  There is a Kickstarter open in his name now to help with expenses (been there, not fun).  His work will be released as open source for all to enjoy (and you will!).  If you will, go here and give what you can: www.kickstarter.com/projects/n…

Just a short entry to let any artists and themers out there know that KDE is working on the design of the next version of their desktop OS, Plasma Next.  There is an open forum here: forum.kde.org/viewforum.php?f=… , in which any artist, Linux user or not, can submit ideas (preferably mockups) as to which direction the OS will go, from widget ideas and icons, all the way to website design.  There are so many amazing themers here, and your input could be included in the final version as DEFAULT and used by millions of people, worldwide!  It's not everyday that a desktop project of this scale opens its doors to community input like this, so I urge you, go see what's happening and add your own vision to the mix!  The people there are amazing, and very welcoming to any and ALL ideas.

I love this new trend of doing away with gradients and using a "flat" look for widgets and icons in themes.  It gives the interface a lighter feel, and directs your focus as a user, and your computer's resources over to the content, instead of to the operating system itself.  Makes a lot of sense.
